Our mission:

At the heart of many of Fant Memorial Library’s services is instruction.  Our staff and faculty developed a workgroup that focuses on learning about instructional theories, strategies, and technologies. We are also committed to gaining a mastery in Fant’s research databases and developing our professional skills in research and instruction.  As a patron-centered library, all of our plans and goals revolve around improving services and instruction for our patrons so that the library creates a positive and productive learning environment.

Our plans:

  • Increase our repertoire and understanding of instructional strategies, teaching tools, and educational theories to engage students in both in-person and virtual learning settings.
  • Continually review and evaluate our databases so that we can best assist patrons with research.
  • Explore and implement new technologies and online programs/applications to increase classroom engagement.
  • Create instructional materials, including LibGuides and presentations, tapered to specific courses as well as general subjects.
  • Discuss ways to implement instructional strategies and tools in desk transactions, according to standards developed by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL).
