Formatting a Works Cited Page

A works cited page belongs at the end of your paper.  The purpose of a works cited page is to compile and organize the citations to the resources you cited in your paper and make the resources easier for your reader to locate.

A works cited page should adhere to the following formatting guidelines:

  • The title is "Works Cited," and it's centered at the top of the page.
  • The citations are left aligned.
  • The content is double spaced.
  • The second and subsequent lines of citations are indented by 0.5 inches to create a hanging indent.
  • The citations are arranged in alphabetical order by author's last name.
