Whenever you write an essay, record a YouTube video, or doodle a self-portrait, you become the owner of intellectual property. “Copyright” is the legal concept that protects creators against others stealing their work. In this section, we’ll discuss how copyright works and when you can fairly use the work of others.

  • Learn the basic facts about copyright, including fair use analysis
  • Utilize the four-factor fair use analysis for academic work
  • Grasp the necessity of providing attribution to all kinds of creative works (i.e., not just text)
